Goodbye and good luck, all.
After three years, it's time to hand the maintenance of the web site to another. I've enjoyed acting as Coach Puckett's and Robin's and Bonnie's virtual mouthpiece, sharing the team news and pictures taken by Mike.

I'd like to take this time to thank two folks who worked behind the scenes these past three years who have been largely responsible for all of the pictures and huge posters:

Mike Brewington (the official team photographer and creator of the dvds and slide-shows at the end of year banquets), and

Christine Riley (the swimmer/artist behind those huge posters at the Parkview, County, and State meets).

Thank you both for all of your great efforts!

To the Seniors, continued success as you all proceed to the next level in your education and those who will be continuing their competition in college.

To the underclassmen, you have quite a tradition to uphold. You have a great base upon which to build. Continued success also to you. Hopefully I'll be able to catch you at some meets in the future. Ya know it's hard to break those old habits.

Eric Clemmons

Hot off the Presses:
The top times for the season, New Team Records, and Updated Top 10 have been updated and can be seen on the Meet Results/Top Times Link. LOTS of new records and top 10s ... Congratulations All. : )

The following are some shots from the taping of the boys team at Fox 5's High5 Sports the other night. I also updated the results with the final times for the season.

Coach Puckett's Summary of the State Meet:

The boys finished off a tremendous season by earning their 2nd consecutive State Championship.
Based on the seedings from the prelims they went into the Finals with an anticipated score of 16 points less than the favored team - Norcross. They ended up winning by a score of 255 - 224. So they not only overcame the potential deficit they ended up scoring a whopping 31 more points than the strong Norcross team. Parkview placed 3rd and Peachtree Ridge placed 4th - so overall it was a good Gwinnett showing. This was the 10th year in a row that a Gwinnett team has won the boys State Championship in the largest classification.

Earning points in the Finals were the following individuals -

200 Medley Relay of Thomas Nguyen, Brandon Clay, Danny Nguyen, and Ken Bolton placed 4th.
200 Free Relay of Brandon Clay, Robbie Swan, Mark Dunn, and Conor Sweeney placed 2nd with a time that is an All-American consideration time, a new Brookwood record, and currently the 8th fastest time in the nation.
400 Free Relay of Danny Nguyen, Mark Dunn, Ken Bolton, and Conor Sweeney were State Champions with a time that is an automatic All-American time, a new Brookwood record, and currently the 5th fastest time in the nation.

Conor Sweeney (Jr) - was State Champion in both the 200 free and the 500 free. Both times are automatic All-American times. His 500 Free time is also the new Brookwood record and currently the 13th fastest time in the nation.
Danny Nguyen (Sr) - was State runner-up in both the 200 IM and the 100 Fly. Both times are automatic All-American times and new Brookwood records. The 200IM was the oldest Brookwood record - from 1989 - before he was even born. The 100 Fly time is currently the 8th fastest time in the nation and his 200IM time is currently the 13th fastest in the nation.
Aiden Sweeney (Fr) - placed 5th in the 500 Free and 10th in the 200 Free
Brandon Clay (Sr) - placed 9th in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast
Ken Bolton (So) - placed 7th in 100 Free and 12th in 50 Free
Thomas Nguyen (So) - placed 9th in 100 Back
Mark Dunn (Sr) - placed 10th in 100 Fly
Robbie Swan (Jr) - placed 13th in 100 Free and 16th in 50 Free

The girls team had a tremendous State meet. Unfortunately they ran into a very strong and deep Lassiter team that was able to outlast the relentless Bronco surge in the Finals. The Brookwood girls finished as the State runner-up with a score of 284 to Lassiter's score of 307. This was their second consecutive year finishing as State runner-up. In the past 10 years they have now been Runner-up 4 times and Champion 4 times - quite an impressive feat.

They started the meet off with a truly amazing race in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Jana Mangimelli, Anna Springer, Haley Holcombe, and Meghan Faulkner finished as State Champions by a mere .07 seconds. There time is now the Brookwood, County and State record. The previous State record was held by Americus and was set in 1992. It was the oldest State record on the books and to be honest one that I did not think would be broken any time soon - boy was I wrong! The impressive time is also an automatic All-American time and currently the 4th fastest time in the nation.
The other two relays were also impressive.
The 200 Free Relay of Kelsey Gouge, Haley Holcombe, Anna Springer, and Allyson Sweeney posted a time that was a automatic All-American time, a new Brookwood record, a new County record, and also under the previous State record. The time is also currently the 9th fastest time in the nation. Unfortunately the impressive swim was not quite enough to win the State Championship. They finished a close 2nd place.
The 400 Free Relay of Allyson Sweeney, Kelsey Gouge, Meaghan Faulkner, and Jana Mangimelli finished off the meet with a spectacular performance. Their time is a new Brookwood , County and State record - by close to 2 and a half seconds. It is also an Automatic All-American time and currently the 6th fastest time in the nation. Brookwood previously held the State record until Marist bettered it last year. It has now returned home!

There were also many impressive performances in the individual events -
Jana Mangimelli (Sr) was State Champion in the 200 IM with a time that is a new Brookwood and County record. It is also an automatic All-American time that is the 2nd fastest in State history and is also currently the 2nd fastest time in the nation. She also finished as runner-up in 100 Back with a time that is also a new Brookwood and County record. This time is also an automatic All-American time which is the 2nd fastest in State history and currently the 9th fastest time in the nation.
Allyson Sweeney (Sr) was State Champion in the 100 Fly with a time that is an automatic All-American time and also the 5th fastest in State history. She also placed 3rd in the 200 Free with an automatic All-American time that is the 7th fastest in State history.
Haley Holcombe (Sr) placed 4th in the 100 Fly with an automatic All-American time
Kelsey Gouge (Fr) placed 4th in the 100 Free and 7th in the 100 Free.
Meghan Faulkner (So) placed 4th in the 100 free with an All-American consideration time. She also placed 9th in the 200 IM with another All-American consideration time.
Anna Springer (Jr) placed 4th in the 100 Breast-stroke and 11th in the 50 Free
Kristen Clemmons (Sr) placed 14th in the 500 Free and 15th in the 200 Free
Carly Egan (Jr) placed 14th in 100 Back
Morgan Duncan (Fr) placed 15th in 100 Back
